The Kyushu University Faculty of Dental Science emphasizes the cultivation of researchers, educators and well-trained, professional clinical dentists, especially those who are capable of active participation as international leaders. To place increased focus on international activities, the new Doctoral Program in Dental Science has been launched. The aim of this program is to nurture individuals of advanced and international talent who will be able to contribute to the establishment of "Health Through Oral Health" all over the world.
The 4-year curriculum in this program is taught exclusively in English, and offers either of two kinds of doctorate degrees, Doctor of Dental Science or Doctor of Science. The Doctor of Dental Science is given to students who have enough basic knowledge to practice research activities independently and with advanced research skills in the field of dentistry, while the Doctor of Science is given students who are engaged in advanced scientific research related to dental science and who are capable of performing at the forefront of research in a wide range of fields. As two major research projects,"Dental and Craniofacial Morphogenesis and Tissue Regeneration" and "Oral Health Science," are intensively promoted in the faculty, students will be involved in either or both of these projects to establish "Health Through Oral Health".
