Summary / In these programs, students will acquire knowledge about global, political, and economic phenomena, in addition to those in Japan and East Asia, while learning new methods of political economy necessary to analyze global, political, and economic issues and propose solutions to them. In this way, the program aims to train students to become professionals who can see political and economic issues from a global perspective, understand the interaction between politics and economy, and propose the formation of new orders for the international community, nations and local communities. Curriculum (Degrees: Master of Political Science, Economics or Global Political Economy)
(1) Research on Japanese politics and economy / Students will learn the history and fundamental thoughts of Japanese politics and economy and actual Japanese political and economic systems. They will deepen their understanding of how Japan has been interacting with international systems in Asia. The faculty will take charge of the appropriate classes so that students can have a bird's-eye view of Japanese politics, economy, and international activities. (2) Political and economic analysis methods / Students will learn basic theories and methodologies for analyzing political and economic phenomena. (3) Cultivation of global view / To become professionals who can think and act globally, students will take courses that cross the borders and span the histories of West Asia, America, Europe, and Africa, as well as Japan and East Asia.
(4) Acquisition of the ability to impart information to the international community / Academic writing and presentation in order to strengthen their ability to impart information for the future. (5) Thorough individual guidance on specialized research / The most important part of research is the specialized fields chosen by students based on their own problem awareness and research guidance given to them. Research guidance will be provided to international students and Japanese students together. In workshops held in conjunction with research guidance, students will report their research findings and present exploratory research, which will be discussed with other participants. (6) Field system / This program will provide joint research guidance, in which two or more faculty members participate in each research field. (7) Research exchange and joint education with overseas universities / These programs will use and expand research exchange programs with our International Partner Universities such as City University of Hong Kong, the University of Amsterdam, Tilburg University, and Peking University. This program is also planning to incorporate multilateral joint education into its curriculum.
