Summary
This program will be implemented within all seven majors of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering to train students recruited from all over the world to become professionals who can contribute globally in the areas of Materials, Life and Systems. International students will study along with the Japanese students in an inspiring environment in which students will be encouraged to compete with each other in their study. Students will be trained and leave Waseda as professionals who can work globally. To this end, efforts will be put into preparing the best academic program, providing a comfortable academic environment for international students, and educating top international students. In addition, to promote the globalization of research on education, we will partner with Global COE (Center of Excellence) and educational and research institutions in the U.S. and Europe. Lastly, this program aims to produce graduates equipped with understanding of technology advancements in Japan as well as the Japanese culture, which enable them to make contributions around the world.
Curriculum (Degrees: Master of Science or Engineering, or Doctor of Science or Engineering)
The program will provide seminars and practical courses offered by the Majors and GCOE in the areas of Materials, Life and Systems in order to help students gain in-depth knowledge of their field. All of these courses will be available for Japanese students to take, along with international students, to promote student interactions. Courses for international students will mainly be placed in the Advanced Fusion Clustering Systems in an attempt to overcome the boundaries of majors and cultivate academic sense within the students.
Opportunities in which students can receive education with global interactions will be provided, and the students will be encouraged to engage themselves in student interactions and short-term study abroad programs to do research at the International Partner Institutions and Universities. Researchers conducting research at Waseda will be asked to give lectures in English. Waseda's overseas offices will be utilized to implement lecture exchange programs with Hanyang University and Chulalongkorn University, and dual-degree programs with Peking University, Tsinghua University, and National Taiwan University. In addition, partnered with a program run by the Doctoral Student Career Center, internship opportunities will be provided for students to gain real-world experience.
