Education and research based on strong ties with the School of Fundamental Science and Engineering
Curricula that give students the opportunity to study specialized areas systematically to deepen skills and competence: The Graduate School of Fundamental Science and Engineering offers three areas of specialization: courses of study in Pure and Applied Mathematics, in Computer Science and Engineering, and in Applied Mechanics. After learning the basics in the School of Fundamental Science and Engineering, students will move on to advanced research at the Graduate School.
A key attraction of the Graduate School is its curricula. Under the previous Graduate School curricula, students used to select a package of specialized courses to add to a basic school curriculum. However the rapid advance in the current science and technologies makes it increasingly difficult to obtain basic skills and understanding in sufficient depth and breadth from the undergraduate studies alone. To address this issue, the Graduate School has realigned its curricula more closely with those of the School. As a key feature, in the new curricula students can study both their specialized fields and other related fields in a systematic fashion. This provides a truly comprehensive scientific education that magnifies the roles of the special areas the student has chosen in science and engineering. The curricula also emphasize laboratory works aligned with the course lectures. The goal is to nurture individuals with the ability to adapt flexibly to next-generation trends in science and engineering. -Major in Pure and Applied Mathematics -Major in Computer Science and Engineering -Major in Applied Mechanics
Since some of the teaching staff at the School of Fundamental Science and Engineering belong to the following graduate schools, recommendations from professors can support students to enroll in these graduate schools, as well as to enroll in the programs above. ● Major in Nanoscience and Nanoengineering ● Graduate School of Global Information and Telecommunication Studies ● Graduate School of Information, Production, and Systems
