Incubating scientists and engineers with advanced knowledge and broad perspectives required to solve problems in the society: The objective of the Graduate School of Creative Science and Engineering is to produce individuals with specialized knowledge and skills capable of creating new technologies and values in the coming era. The School offers five areas of study: Architecture, Modern Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Management Systems Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Earth Sciences, Resources and Environmental Engineering. Students will engage in practical and ground-breaking research underpinned by the core engineering ethic that values both social contributions and conservation of the global environment. In addition to pursuing advanced study of specialized fields, all students will take the same courses as prerequisite for all the five programs. In this way, students can receive an education that strengthens their abilities to create fresh ideas from different perspectives including advanced engineering required in the individual, community, and global levels, and also to apply these perspectives into practical use. To help students to become excellent engineers and researchers, the Graduate School also emphasizes highlevel communication skills and an all-around liberal arts education.
