Japan Educational Seminar (Korea)

The Japan Educational Seminar turned out to be a great success, with 118 participants on September 3 and 147 participants on September 4th. Many students who were serious about studying in Japan were at the Seminar. Besides the 13 core universities under the Global 30 Project, Hokkaido University, Nagasaki University, International Christian University, Tokai University and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University joined the seminar this time.
At each booth of the Japanese universities, the participants eagerly asked the representatives from the universities many questions about admission criteria, curriculums, and student life in Japan. In addition, the university staff explained the measures taken against the Earthquake by each university. The seminar included simulated lectures on many interesting academic subjects. The participants listened to the university professors explaining their most advanced research with excitement. Scientific experiments were carried out during the lecture which allowed the students to participate in the lecture actively. The students seemed to show a great interest in coming to Japan to study in a wide range of English-medium courses offered by Japanese universities.
» 1. Objective
The Japan Educational Seminar will be held at Seoul, Korea to introduce newly-established degree programs in English to prospective students.
In order to attract more international students to Japan, The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT) launched the "Global 30" Project for Establishing Core Universities for Internationalization and has MEXT and has selected 13 universities. Under the Project, students can obtain degrees from prestigious Japanese universities by taking academic programs conducted in English, both in undergraduate and graduate levels.
Note: The universities under the "Global 30" Project are as follows: Tohoku University, University of Tsukuba, The University of Tokyo, Nagoya University, Kyoto University, Osaka University, Kyushu University, Keio University, Sophia University,Meiji University, Waseda University, Doshisha University, and Ritsumeikan University (13 universities total).

» 4. Program
(1) Presentation and Lecture Demonstration
The universities will briefly explain such education systems as academic programs, admission procedures. Q and A session will also be provided. Distinguished professors from the universities will give short lectures in English. Students are encouraged to ask questions and interact with them.
(2) One-on-one session
Representatives from the universities are available for any questions that each student may have. Students are welcome to speak with them regarding admission procedures, scholarships, and advantages of studying in Japan.
