The Japan Educational Seminar turned out to be a great success, with 339 participants at Hanoi on November 15, 258 participants at Ho Chi Minh City on November 17 and 680 participants at Manila on November 19.
Besides the 13 core universities under the “Global 30 Project”, Hokkaido University, Yokohama National University, Kobe University, Hiroshima University, Kansai University and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University joined the seminar this time.
Thanks to the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines and the Philippines Association of Japanese Government Scholars (PHILAJAMES), National Conference on Teacher Training was held on the same day. As a result, there were many high school teachers present with their students. A Lunch Reception was held by the 13 core universities and there were guests from many organizations across the Philippines. The guests included Dr. Benito M. Pacheco, Vice President of University of the Philippines, Dr. Merle Tan, Director of University of the Philippines, UPNISMED, Atty. Lily Freida, Director of Commission on Higher Education, Usec. Yolanda S. Quijano from Department of Education, Mr. Mitsugi, Senior Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency Philippines Office and Dr. Amelia Fajardo from PHILAJAMES.
Many students who were serious about studying in Japan were at the Seminar. At each booth of the Japanese universities, the participants eagerly asked the representatives from the universities many questions especially about scholarships.

The Japan Educational Seminar will be held at Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, and Manila, the Philippines to introduce newly-established degree programs in English to prospective students.
In order to attract more international students to Japan, The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT) launched the “Global 30″ Project for Establishing Core Universities for Internationalization and has MEXT and has selected 13 universities. Under the Project, students can obtain degrees from prestigious Japanese universities by taking academic programs conducted in English, both in undergraduate and graduate levels.
Note: The universities under the “Global 30″ Project are as follows: Tohoku University, University of Tsukuba, The University of Tokyo, Nagoya University, Kyoto University, Osaka University, Kyushu University, Keio University, Sophia University,Meiji University, Waseda University, Doshisha University, and Ritsumeikan University (13 universities in total).

(1) Presentation and Lecture Demonstration
The universities will briefly explain such education systems as academic programs, admission procedures. Q and A session will also be provided. Distinguished professors from the universities will give short lectures in English. Students are encouraged to ask questions and interact with them.

(2) One-on-one session
Representatives from the universities are available for any questions that each student may have. Students are welcome to speak with them regarding admission procedures, scholarships, and advantages of studying in Japan.
